MegaPath using Edgewater gear

Megapath provides managed data, voice, security and hosted IT services in North America, using T1 and Ethernet connections. It is now installing its T1 and Ethernet circuits using Edgewater’s EdgeMarc 4552 Series ESBC as a WAN access router.
Cogeco Cable launches guide apps

Comcast has IPv6 running on all Arris-based systems

The transition to IPv6 is necessitated because the fund of IPv4 addresses is approaching exhaustion. At the same time, NIST has just issued IPv6 transition guidelines.
Report: VZW, AT&T crafting bid to buy Vodafone

Verizon entered into a joint venture with Vodafone back in 2000, creating what is now Verizon Wireless. Verizon currently owns 55 percent of the company, while Veodafone holds the remaining 45 percent.
Appeals court: Aereo is legal

The decision was based in part on Cablevision's landmark court case that established the legality of the networked PVR system.
MetroPCS responds to ISS merger concerns

The letter comes after Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. Apple patents iPhone with wraparound display

The patent application reveals that Apple has put some thought into a device that takes advantage of a new generation of displays, which don't have to be flat and rigid like today's liquid-crystal displays, or LCDs.
Media: Aereo talks to Dish, AT&T
April 1, 2013 11:54 am | CommentsBarry Diller-backed Aereo has conducted partnership talks with major pay-TV distributors and ISPs, with AT&T and Dish Network among the list of potential suitors. According to a story by The Wall Street Journal, Aereo is looking to lock up partnerships with cable, satellite or telco companies as one way of moving its Web-based streaming service in front of more potential customers.
MetroPCS shares up as T-Mobile deal is criticized

Shares of Dallas-based MetroPCS, the fifth-largest U.S. cellphone company, rose 42 cents, or 4 percent, to $10.95 in midday trading.
Cisco Systems raises dividend 21 percent

The San Jose, California-based technology giant will pay a 17-cent quarterly dividend on April 24 to shareholders of record April 8. That's up 3 cents from the last quarter.
Media: Sprint, Softbank near U.S. deal to restrict Huawei
March 29, 2013 12:28 pm | by Ben Munson | CommentsSprint and Softbank, the Japanese cellular company that intends to buy 70 percent of the U.S.’s third largest carrier, are expected to allow the U.S. government oversight in its choice of network suppliers. The New York Times reports the deal would enable the government to monitor changes to the combined company’s network and possibly prevent it from using equipment manufactured by Chinese companies, particularly Huawei.
Research: OTN market to hit $13 billion by 2017

Last year the OTN transport and switching equipment market grew 8 percent to $7.3 billion with the bulk of that growth coming from the OTN switching segment, which was up 46 percent in 2012 from 2011.
FX network to launch younger-skewing channel

The company says that the lineup for FXX will consist of original series, movies and acquired series targeting adults 18 to 34, a slightly younger audience than FX attracts.
Clearwire dips into $80 million from Sprint
March 28, 2013 12:52 pm | by Ben Munson | CommentsClearwire has opted to draw $80 million in funding for April from Sprint, as part of the carrier’s proposed offer to buy the WiMax provider for $2.97 per share. Clearwire accepted the draw for March despite Dish’s insistence it would withdraw its offer to buy the remaining half of Clearwire for $3.30 per share.
Lightpath connects Westchester Community College

Using the Lightpath Education Services Suite, the college was also able to enable online registration for students, connect the security staff across locations, offer classes via VOD, and incorporate closed-captioning into lectures.
