A+E preps for multi-screen with thePlatform

Comcast subsidiary thePlatform has picked up another big account, A+E Networks.

The company will provide the online video logistics system for A&E, BIO, History, and Lifetime, and will be extended to other A+E Networks' channel brands over time.

A+E Networks is preparing for multi-screen delivery. To that end, it will be using the Platform's mpx system will provide content management, including video ingest and metadata aggregation, along with business rights modeling and enforcement, the vendor said.

The Platform has been expanding from its initial customer base of service providers, adding more programmers as customers.

Liberty Global, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox, Cablevision, and Rogers are among the operators using the company's technology. In addition to A+E Networks, programmer clients include PBS, Travel Channel Media, E!, truTV, Style Network, Outdoor Channel, and NBC Local Media, among others.

On the company's blog, the Platform quotes A+E Networks' vice president of digital media technology, John Cool, saying "With thePlatform's video management system, mpx, we are able to consolidate our video workflow into one system, with the flexibility and enterprise-class reliability we need to reach new screens and outlets."
