Shaw Business, a division of Shaw Communications, has inked a three-year deal with the city of Calgary to provide local telephone services and advanced custom 311 configurations over its fiber network.

Shaw, which is headquartered in Calgary, already provided data services to the city of Calgary but now will service the city's three main locations – City Hall, Manchester and Whitehorn – with more than 8,000 direct inward dial numbers and a complex call routing and management platform for the city's 311 services.
Calgary residents can use the 311 service to report problems with non-emergency municipal services, such as missed garbage pickups, road conditions and non-working equipment such as traffic lights.
The features provided by Shaw Business provide several tailor-made features to the 311 services to improve the municipal services line. In addition to the voice service, a Web portal allows for the easy creation and storage of a number of 311 greeting messages. New greetings can be created in the portal, using either voice or text, depending on changing requirements and emergency situations.
