DOCSIS celebrates second year of modem certification

A total of 23 cable modems and five cable modem termination systems (CMTSs) received CableLabs' stamp of approval. The equipment certified and/or qualified is part of the DOCSIS 1.0 program.
Fixed wireless to bridge fiber gap

The high-speed service offering is well suited to bridge the gap between the fiber backbone and end users, but there are limitations. The problem facing this growing industry is that roof space is at a premium, and there are a limited number of buildings that can be used as wireless access points.
Cable Center introduces Third Millennium Fund

Donations of $100 to the Third Millennium Fund entitle the donor to one share in the fund, and there is no limit to the number of shares that may be acquired through donations.
DTTV prepares for growth

The nascent digital terrestrial television (DTTV) market, whose signals were only received by 1.3 million households at the end of 2000, will experience an annual growth rate of 100 percent, totaling more than 87 million households worldwide by 2006.
TI introduces new DSL technology

The products are designed to decrease the noise floor of the downstream signal, leading to improved data rates and wider service area for ADSL modem deployments, according to the company.
LSI Logic buying C-Cube

Under terms of the transaction announced in March, each outstanding share of C-Cube common stock will be exchanged for 0.79 of a share of LSI Logic common stock. The deal should be completed by June, according to LSI Logic.

Financing for the nearly year-old company, whose security systems operate over the Web, included funds from Cox Communications, Adelphia Communications, Charter Communications, Shaw Communications, Comcast and Cablevision Systems.
TRW launches fiber optic supplier

Nortel to resell Optibase media gateways

The media gateway is multichannel and allows real-time streaming of MPEG digital video and audio over IP networks. It has an embedded operating system and can encode and transmit up to 16 streams simultaneously, including six in real time, Optibase reports.
