Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable will provide four rounds of coverage of this weekend's Sony Open in Hawaii in 3-D.

Both of the cable operators will be carrying the Golf Channel's 3-D telecast of the tournament, which is the first full-field tournament of the 2012 PGA Tour season. Golfers will be competing for a $5.5 million purse at the Waialae Country Club on the island of Oahu.

The 3-D coverage includes two live rounds and two re-air rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

The 3-D telecast will be a separate production from the Golf Channel's four-round coverage and will feature custom graphics and a dedicated team of commentators, including Brian Hammons (play by play), Curt Byrum (lead analyst) and Steve Sands (on-course reporter).

The coverage will offer images captured by eight of Sony's 3-D-compatible professional cameras, located throughout the golf course in stationary and handheld positions.

In order to watch the rounds in 3-D, viewers need to be subscribed to the Golf Channel and have a 3-D TV set and compatible 3-D glasses.
