Wade HolmesBendBroadband has appointed Wade Holmes as its new vice president of technology after Holmes served in that role on an interim basis since September.

Prior to Holmes' stint as acting vice president of technology, former BendBroadband chief technology officer Frank Miller left the company to become CTO of Huawei. Holmes now takes over all of the technology responsibilities that were previously handled by Miller.

In his new position, Holmes' focus will be accelerating growth from BendBroadband's technology portfolio and expanding business for the company's data center, the Vault, which opened its doors last year.

"BendBroadband is known as a technology leader, often advancing in new directions ahead of the industry. Wade's capabilities as a technologist, strategic thinker and leader will help us continue on that trajectory to deliver innovative, reliable products to our customers. We are excited to have Wade in this key role," said BendBroadband President and CEO Amy Tykeson. "This position demands vision and collaboration throughout the company and participation at the highest levels in the industry."

Holmes joined BendBroadband six years ago and has played a leadership role in numerous technical initiatives during his tenure, according to the company. He was recognized as a BendBroadband Key Contributor in 2007 and Leader of the Year for the company in 2008. Prior to joining BendBroadband, Holmes was on the professional faculty at Oregon State University's College of Engineering, where he also earned a bachelor's in computer science.

BendBroadband is a small cable operator in Oregon that is known for its progressive thinking on the technology front, including the 1997 launch of high-speed Internet, the 2008 conversion to an all-digital video platform and the 2009 rollout of HSPA+ wireless broadband over licensed spectrum to rural areas.
