Good Guys is a San Francisco-based consumer electronics retailer. The kit will retail for $29.99 and includes digital cable installation, one month of digital basic service, three digital tiers, multiplex-premium channels, five pay-per-view movie coupons and an instructional video and handbook.

New broadband alliance in China

(SII), have inked a deal to bring broadband IP value-added services to commercial customers in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. China is experiencing fast growth in the telecom sector, with China NetTV Holdings and China Broadband establishing firm market shares.

EchoStar, the second-largest direct-broadcast satellite provider, said the DBS's introduction of two-way Internet access is probably no match for cable's high-speed Internet service bundled with digital-video and, in some cases, local phone service.

Time Warner and Liberate talking?

Microsoft to develop set-top solution

The goal of the alliance is to develop for cable operators a set-top solution based on Microsoft's TV software and the Octal hardware platforms.
Adelphia adds Scientific-Atlanta headends

When complete, the deployment is expected to pass an additional 2.3 million homes by 1Q 2001. The installations will cover the eastern half of the U.
