Multi-wavelength vendor InnoTrans Communications has inked a multi-year, sole-source agreement with a large cable operator in the United States.

InnoTrans didn’t provide the name of the cable operator, but it did say it was one of the top five cable operators in the nation. The agreement is for the use of InnoTrans’ 1550 nm ITU-T-compliant forward optical transmitters.

InnoTrans, which was founded by the technical team behind Synchronous, has been the operator’s only approved vendor for its Chromadigm 1550 nm HFC multi-wavelength transport solution since 2009. The Chromadigm platform can be initially deployed for node splitting and fiber reclamation before converting to a Fiber Deep or RFoG implementation without taking down the existing network.

“The Chromadigm full-band forward path DWDM solution is being widely adopted by the MSO community in both the U.S. and Canada,” said InnoTrans CEO Mani Ramachandran. “The solution provides operators the ability to do full eight-way node segmentation in both forward and reverse directions on one fiber, for distances up to 65  km using InnoTrans’ optical hub solutions. In addition, the patented Chromadigm solution is chirp-free, which provides immunity to fiber dispersion and filter ripple, and includes clipping mitigation for pristine QAM signal delivery.”

InnoTrans will be exhibiting the transmitters, along with its I-Hub and Adaptive Return Transmitter, at Cable-Tec Expo in Atlanta.
