SeaChange International's multi-screen video back office and client platform, Adrenalin, has been picked by Liberty Global to help provision its Horizon service.

Liberty Global took the wraps off of its Horizon platform earlier this month at the IBC show in Amsterdam. Horizon blends cable, Web-based and personal content with a new interface and recommendation engine. Liberty Global's Horizon gateway works with a new service called Horizon Online, the latter of which streams video and 3,000 VOD titles to multiple screens and devices throughout customers' homes.

Horizon is currently in field trials in the Netherlands and will move to consumer trials later this year. Commercial launch is planned for the first quarter of 2012 at UPC in the Netherlands, with UPC Cablecom in Switzerland and Unitymedia in Germany following soon thereafter.

Released toward the end of last year, Adrenalin software was designed to transform SeaChange's Axiom On Demand back office with a service-oriented architecture (SOA) for multi-screen video delivery, multiple DRM support, and monetization through linear and on-demand ad offerings.

Liberty Global deployed Adrenalin to automate Horizon's on-demand television offering. SeaChange already provided a range of video back office and multi-screen software offerings for Liberty Global systems in Europe, including UPC Netherlands, UPC Cablecom (Switzerland) and UPC Poland, and, in Latin America, for Liberty Cablevision of Puerto Rico and VTR in Chile. Liberty Global's systems also leverage SeaChange Professional Services for systems planning, integration and deployment.

"We selected SeaChange software and services as a key contributor to the overall Horizon experience. The Adrenalin system helps us deliver our multi-screen video offering seamlessly to our customers," said Ryc Brownrigg, vice president of digital technology at Liberty Global.
