In the media: Insight forges ahead on fiber build in Louisville
Despite its impending acquisition by Time Warner Cable, it's business as usual for Insight Communications as it continues its fiber-optic build-out in downtown Louisville, Ky.
According to a story in today's Louisville Business First, Insight Business, the commercial services division of Insight Communications, is working to complete its fiber-optic build-out in Louisville's downtown commercial district.
Jason Keller, director of public affairs at Insight Communications, said in the story that Time Warner Cable's business-class services, which are offered by the Time Warner Cable Business Class division, would be added to Louisville at the close of the $3 million acquisition.
Time Warner Cable emerged as the winner of Insight after a failed auction and months of negotiations. According to past media reports, Cablevision, Mediacom Communications, WideOpenWest and Charter Communications kicked the tires on Insight.
Carlyle was reportedly seeking $3.5 billion to $4 billion for Insight, but Time Warner Cable initially dropped out of the earlier auction because it felt the price was too high.
Time Warner Cable is the nation's second-largest cable operator, while Insight is the ninth largest.
