With all of the talk of multi-screen delivery, there are few operators that have announced installations. Kabel Deutschland joins that short list after announcing it will be using Concurrent's MediaHawk to deliver video to a variety of user devices, integrated with SeaChange's EventIS back office system and NDS' client solution.

The integrated solution will allow Kabel Deutschland to support both traditional set-top box terminals, as well as IP-enabled consumer devices, such as tablet computers, smartphones, IP set-top boxes and gaming consoles, Concurrent said.

"KD's goal is to provide our customers with new and innovative video services that span an increasing array of consumer devices," said Lorenz Glatz, KD's chief technology officer. "We tested several platforms and decided on Concurrent's solution based on its performance and unique multi-screen features. We believe Concurrent's ability to support both Internet video delivery and traditional TV delivery on the same platform provides us with the flexibility to expand our business to new screens and to take advantage of more efficient content delivery models."

Kabel Deutschland is Germany's largest cable operator, supplying services to approximately 12.7 million connected households.
