Davis back to Charter as VP of technical operations
Former Charter Communications chief technology officer Wayne Davis has returned to the company as its new vice president of technical operations.
Light Reading Cable first reported Davis' return to Charter this morning.
Davis is based out of Charter Communications' Denver office, which is where most of its senior engineering team is located, and reports to president of operations Steve Apodaca. Apodaca referred to Davis as "a passionate leader with a proven track record of driving growth and building high-performing technical operations organizations" in an email from a Charter spokeswoman this morning.
At Charter, Davis will lead field operations' pursuit to improve the delivery of an "unmatched customer experience." Charter said Davis would focus on servicing and fulfilling customers' needs, as well as ensuring the high-quality delivery of services.
Charter has been working on improving its customer service through its Customer Experience Transformation program, which includes three pilot programs launched earlier this year.
In 2004, Charter promoted Davis to executive vice president of engineering and technical operations after he previously served as the company's senior vice president of engineering and technical operations. Davis joined Charter in 2001 as vice president of engineering for the MSO's former Western Division.
Davis left Charter in 2006, the same year Marwan Fawaz was named as Charter’s CTO and executive vice president after the sale of Adelphia Communications to Time Warner Cable and Comcast.
Fawaz resigned as Charter's CTO in March. Currently, former Cox Communications CTO Chris Bowick is serving as Charter’s interim CTO.
Davis was CEO of Vyyo and then Javelin Innovations once Vyyo was bought out and became a private entity. Davis left Javelin last year.
Davis was also vice president of engineering for Comcast, serving as the company's engineering lead in managing the integration and upgrade of plant acquired from Jones Intercable into the Comcast network.
Davis joined Comcast after 15 years with Jones Intercable, during which time he rose from engineering director for the company's Midwest system to vice president of technical operations and group vice president of engineering.
