Suddenlink Communications is now offering residential subscribers in its Midland, Texas, system its DOCSIS 3.0-based Max 107.0 service.

Max 107.0 has download speeds of up to 107 Mbps and upstream speeds of up to 5 Mbps. Up until Videotron deployed a wideband tier with a downstream speed of 120 Mbps last year, Suddenlink had the fastest DOCSIS 3.0 service in North America.

Last year, Suddenlink first started offering its Max 107.0 tier in Texas communities that included Austin, Amarillo, Georgetown, Leander and Pflugerville. Since then, it has been rolled out in Tyler, Whitehouse, Amarillo, Tulia, Lubbock, Post, Shallowater and Wolfforth, Texas, and in Gallia and Meigs, Ohio, and the West Virginia counties of Mason and Jackson.

In other areas where it has been deployed, Max 107.0 costs $120 per month as a standalone service and $107 per month as part of a bundled package.

In April, Suddenlink launched its DOCSIS 3.0-based Max 50.0 tier in more than a dozen Texas communities. Max 50.0 features download speeds of up to 50 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 3 Mbps.

The rollouts included Lufkin, Mineola, Grand Saline, Lindale, Quitman, Hideaway Lake and a number of the suburban Dallas communities that Suddenlink serves, such as Terrell, Forney, Balch Springs, Seagoville, Heath, Rockwall, Royse City, Talty, Fate and McClendon-Chisholm.

With its recent deployments, Suddenlink has DOCSIS 3.0 in front of 73 percent of its subscribers.

The DOCSIS 3.0 tiers were the result of Suddenlink's "Project Imagine," which calls for approximately $350 million of capital investments nationwide through 2012, above and beyond the company's traditional capital spending levels.

In addition to the DOCSIS 3.0 tiers, Project Imagine's roadmap also includes more HD choices, expanded digital phone service and more VOD offerings.
