Comcast Business Services ties in with commercial real estate group

Comcast Business Services has joined the Building Owners and Managers Association's Partnership Program to better serve the needs of the commercial real estate sector.

Comcast Business Services joined the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) as a Leadership Circle Partner.

The BOMA International Partnership Program, which was designed to support BOMA International and was developed in 2004, features three levels of participation: Cornerstone Partner, Leadership Circle Partner and Supporting Partner.

"As mid-size businesses across a variety of industries increasingly replace the cost and complexity of on-site IT infrastructure with cloud computing, software-as-a-service, videoconferencing and other network-based applications, a reliable, high-bandwidth network connection is becoming a mission-critical asset," said Kevin O'Toole, senior vice president of product management and strategy at Comcast Business Services. "Our partnership with BOMA will allow us to work closely with its 16,500 commercial real estate professionals that collectively own or manage 9 billion square feet of office space to create 'cloud-ready' buildings.

"Today's tenants expect a high-capacity network that is always available and can scale to meet the business and application needs they have today or in the future."

The BOMA organization is an international federation of more than 100 local associations and affiliated organizations. Founded in 1907, its 16,500-plus members own or manage more than 9 billion square feet of commercial properties.

Last month, Comcast announced its metro Ethernet services were available in more than 20 markets across the nation.

In its May first-quarter earnings report, Comcast's business services revenues were up 50 percent over the same quarter a year ago, to $364 million. Last year, Comcast had $1.3 billion in commercial services revenue, which was the first time it topped $1 billion, and it expects to increase that amount to $1.6 billion this year.
