Zoran readies DOCSIS 3.0 triple tuner
Zoran is preparing a slate of new components for connected entertainment products, ranging from set-top boxes to Internet TVs to digital cameras.
Zoran, which purchased Microtune last year, added to its portfolio of tuner solutions for set-top boxes, cable modems and gateway products with some new triple tuners for DOCSIS 3.0 platforms.
Zoran cites Arris, Cisco, Hitron, Motorola and Samsung as customers of its Microtune DTV receivers, tuners and demodulators.
Heading into the Computex show, Zoran is also demonstrating components for high-definition flat-panel television platforms capable of supporting Web browsing, Skype TV and Android Smart TV technology-based connected applications.
"At Computex, we are demonstrating our new digital television platforms and frame rate conversion technologies for manufacturers that want to deliver the highest-quality video, while also supporting the most popular applications in Internet-connected Smart TV products shipping to global consumers," said Mustafa Ozgen, vice president and general manager of Zoran's digital TV business unit, its Home Entertainment division.
"We are especially pleased to show our SupraHD dual-core 1.2 Ghz processor platform with 3-D graphics processing for smart TV applications. In addition, we are demonstrating our latest 2-D to 3-D conversion technology with our newest frame rate convertor," Ozgen said.
Zoran supplies DTV processor platforms to Best Buy, Coby, Emerson, Funai, Haier, Hitachi, Magnavox, Philips, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp, Sylvania, Toshiba, Vizio, Westinghouse and others.
The company will also be demonstrating its latest generation of its Coach family of digital camera processors, which offer advanced video compression, DSLR-grade performance and high-definition video recording.
