Confirming our earlier report, HBO has chosen the Azuki Wireless Platform to prepare, protect, and package HBO Go content to mobile devices.

HBO Go is currently available to approximately 80 percent of HBO households, including Comcast Xfinity TV, Verizon FiOS, Cox Advanced TV, AT&T U-Verse, Suddenlink, DirecTV and Dish Network customers who subscribe to HBO.

The system delivers video to iPhones, iPads, and certain Android smartphones.

The Azuki system provides adaptive bit rate streaming; customers can use native HTTP adaptive streaming, Adobe Flash, or Microsoft Silverlight.

The platform separates the digital rights policy management from the enforcement of those policies, the company said, enabling content owners and service providers to use any third party rights manager to define the policies and access permissions for the content.
