Comcast Xfinity app expands on-demand content
Comcast said it has increased the amount of on-demand video available through its Xfinity broadband TV service by 50 percent, from about 3,000 titles to about 4,500.
The app currently works with iPads; the company reiterated that it is working on a similar app for Android devices.
"We've also recently added selections from 10 additional content partners, including IFC, Sundance, Hallmark, Ovation TV, CNN, Adult Swim, TruTV, CBeebies and Sony, with more to come soon from Warner Bros.," said Maggie McLean Suniewick, Comcast's vice president of programming and interactive media, in a blog post.
That is added to content previously available from HBO, Showtime, Starz, Encore, Cinemax and MoviePlex and programming from TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network and BBC America.
Suniewick promised both more content and support for more consumer devices: "We'll continue to work in conjunction with these and additional programming partners to deliver hundreds more movies and streaming on-demand choices to the iPad in the weeks and months ahead, and introduce similar functionality on Android-powered devices and smartphones in the future."
