Shaw Communications is trimming 500 jobs, or about 4 percent of its total workforce, as part of a company-wide restructuring initiative.

Shaw President Peter Bissonette said the company was consolidating its 18 operating regions into seven in order to reduce overhead.

Shaw is eliminating jobs, including a large number of managers and supervisors, across its Western Canada footprint, as well as closing down a call center in Saskatoon.
