Greenpacket, a developer of mobile broadband and network solutions, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Time Warner Cable that will give the cable operator's subscribers better connectivity as they move across multiple mobile broadband networks.

Greenpacket, which is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, said its Intouch suite of products would also help Time Warner Cable more efficiently manage and monitor access to its networks while providing a much richer user experience.

"This is the connection management software that will be used with our Time Warner Cable Mobile Internet/Road Runner Mobile product, including our wireless air cards, IntelliGo personal hotspot device and imbedded WiMAX laptops we provide service to," Time Warner Cable spokesman Justin Venech wrote in an e-mail this morning to CED.

Time Warner Cable launched its IntelliGo hotspots last summer. IntelliGo, which is from Sierra Wireless, is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket and provides 4G and 3G network access for up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices simultaneously.

IntelliGo seeks a 4G network first, and if one isn't available, it will connect to Sprint's nationwide 3G network. Time Warner Cable and Comcast are both reselling Clearwire's Clear 4G service under their own brands. Outside of Time Warner Cable's 4G markets, the company's subscribers can access Clearwire's 4G network with their IntelliGo devices.

Time Warner Cable will use customized versions of Greenpacket's Intouch Connection Manager (ICM), Intouch Reporting Server and Intouch Update Server for its Windows and Mac platforms.

Greenpacket's ICM is a single-client offering that manages access across various network connections, including Wi-Fi, WiMAX and 3G. The end users are automatically connected to the best available network without interruptions in their service.

Greenpacket has demonstrated the ability to quickly develop highly competitive world-class solutions that will enhance our delivery of fast, reliable mobile broadband experiences to our customers," said Vijay Venkateswaran, senior director of mobile data product management at Time Warner Cable. "We are impressed by Greenpacket's level of responsiveness, innovation, customer service and commitment during the selection and product delivery process.
