Cablevision adds Web conference, remote access business tools

Through a new partner in its Optimum Business Benefits program, Cablevision is offering Web conferencing and remote access tools to small- and medium-size businesses that subscribe to its voice and data services.

Citrix Online has added its GoToMyPC and GoToMeeting offerings into the Optimum Business Benefits portfolio. Optimum Business Benefits was launched last year by Cablevision as a means to offer area business customers discounts and other benefits.

Citrix Online joined Cablevision's existing alliance partners: FedEx, ADP, CardWorks and U.S. Business Technology.

"We are thrilled to provide our small business customers with more opportunities to save on mission-critical business services with the addition of GoToMyPC and GoToMeeting," said Stephanie Anderson, vice president of marketing for commercial services at Cablevision. "Members of the Optimum Business Benefits program now have access to special offers on Web conferencing, secure remote access to work files from anywhere, shipping and document services, credit card processing, office equipment leasing and payroll services. Depending on usage, the savings realized from our benefits program actually covers the customer's communications costs."

GoToMyPC allows users to connect to their Mac or PC computers over the Internet to access work on their data, files and network applications when they're home or on the road.

Cablevision said Optimum Business Benefits members have access to a special offer for a monthly plan or annual plan with significant savings after the free trial. For one computer, the monthly plan is $9.95, a savings of 50 percent off the standard price, while the annual plan is $99 per year. The offer includes access for up to 20 personal computers with significant savings.

GoToMeeting is a Web conferencing tool that allows users to meet, present information, demonstrate products and collaborate online. Anyone with a Mac or PC and an Internet connection can host, attend and participate in a conference.

The monthly plan is $29.99 per month, or customers can choose the annual plan for $348. The prices include unlimited meetings with up to 15 attendees, integrated conference calling including VoIP capability, security, and unlimited software and service upgrades.
