CES: Sony's broadband TVs to deliver IP video to TWC
Last night at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Sony Electronics USA President Phil Molyneux said his company would provide Bravia HDTVs to Time Warner Cable for the delivery of video content via Internet Protocol.
The broadband-connected Sony TVs would eliminate the need for a traditional cable set-top box, although Time Warner Cable subscribers may still opt to keep their DVRs plugged in.
While Time Warner Cable noted last night's announcement on its corporate blog, the details were lacking on the IP-delivered video service by Time Warner Cable.
Cisco's Kip Compton recently penned an "Open Mic" column on how to prepare for the migration to IP.
