The second day of Cablevision's "11 Days of Optimum Value to Kick off 2011" promotion highlighted the cable operator's free HD and video-on-demand offerings.
Cablevision has more than 120 HD channels to choose from and "thousands" of free on-demand choices. The nation's fifth-largest cable operator made a point of mentioning that its HD and VOD choices were available without additional charges or the need for any extra equipment.
An interesting feature to Cablevision's HD programming is that it automatically tunes viewers to an HD version of a channel when one is available.
Cablevision launched the promotion yesterday with a free application, called iO Photos, that allows viewers to view and share Facebook photos on their TVs.
Cablevision, which mainly competes against Verizon, DirecTV and Dish Network, serves nearly 3 million customers in Connecticut, New Jersey, Long Island, Westchester County and the Hudson Valley.
