Cablevision promo: Free Facebook photos on TVs
Cablevision is giving its digital video customers the opportunity to splash their Facebook photos onto their TVs for free as part of a new promotional campaign.
Cablevision launched "11 Days of Value to Kick off 2011" today to showcase its value-added benefits to customers who subscribe to one or more of the cable operator's digital services. The Facebook service, which is called "iO Photos," is the first offering of the campaign.
Cablevision's iO Photos channel lets subscribers view and display photos from their Facebook accounts on TVs throughout the home by using their remote controls.
"iO Photos, like the recently launched iO Games, is another example of the value and innovation we provide to our digital cable customers. These free channels change the way we interact not only with the television, but with each other by creating a connected experience," said John Trierweiler, executive vice president of product management at Cablevision. "Throughout our '11 Days of Value to Kick Off 2011' campaign, we will underscore the popular features and value-added benefits that differentiate our Optimum television, phone and Internet services."
Cablevision said there wasn't a limit to the number of Facebook accounts that a customer could access, but iO Photos users need to register on the cable operator's Web portal to use the service.
The service allows subscribers to view Facebook newsfeed photos, including comments, tagged photos and friends' albums.
Cablevision is provisioning iO Photos through its partnership with ActiveVideo Networks. Cablevision launched iO Games in November using ActiveVideo's Tag Games.
