Allot Communications launched a new high-capacity service gateway designed to help service providers that are operating either advanced mobile networks or fixed-mobile networks to monetize over-the-top (OTT) content.

The Allot Service Gateway Sigma E provides 160 Gbps of throughput and supports up to 8 million subscribers on a single platform. Clustered, the gateway can provide up to 1 terabit per second, Allot said.

The platform enables operators to expand their role in the Internet value chain by providing vital information on applications, subscribers and network topology. This knowledge is crucial to implementing Intelligent Charging models, which enable the monetization of OTT applications such as video, social networking and more, the company explained.

"LTE signifies the next big step forward for mobile Internet. It represents a huge opportunity for operators to improve the way they deliver Internet to subscribers in terms of throughput, the services that they offer and how they charge for it," said Rami Hadar, Allot's president and CEO. "SG-Sigma E is designed to do exactly that."
