Microsoft is in talks with several content owners to begin its own over-the-top pay-TV service, to be delivered through its Xbox game console.

Microsoft is apparently open to any of several business models, according to the report from Reuters.

Options include a service for which subscribers would pay a monthly fee to simply using the Xbox as a means of authenticating existing cable customers for enhanced services.

Any service isn't likely for another 12 months or so, according to the report.
