Cox Communications has its Plus Package premium tier up and running in five markets so far this year.
Cox first announced Plus Package, which includes a whole-home DVR service, and its new tru2way-based Trio program guide in May.
Cox currently has Plus Package available in its Orange Coast, San Diego, Kansas, Tulsa and New England markets.
When Plus Package was first announced, Cox, the nation's third-largest cable operator, set a goal of having it rolled out across the company's entire footprint by the end of this year. A Cox spokesman said the cable operator will have more launches in new markets during the fourth quarter and that some commercial deployments could take place in the first quarter, as well.
There's an additional fee of $5 to $10 a month for Plus Package for its Advanced TV subscribers. In San Diego, Cox is offering new subscribers its Advanced TV + 1 Pak for $39.99 for the first three months, after which it goes up to $61.99.
Cox is deploying Plus Package in systems that have been upgraded to 860 MHz. With the additional spectrum, Cox has also added new HD channels from, among others, HBO, Showtime and Starz.
