Cablevision has added Portuguese network Radio e Televisao de Portugal (RTPi) to its iO International programming service.

The Portuguese-language network is now available across Cablevision's New York City metropolitan service area on Channel 275 and joins SPT as part of the iO Portuguese programming lineup.

RTPi is a 24-hour Portuguese language general entertainment channel and is owned and operated by the Portuguese government. Its programming includes news, films and sports.

"The launch of RTPi represents a meaningful expansion of iO Portuguese," said Gary Schanman, Cablevision's senior vice president of video product management. "Diverse and high-quality international programming is an important part of our award-winning digital cable service, iO TV, and the addition of programming like RTPi adds significant value for our Portuguese-speaking customers."

RTPi is available to customers who subscribe to Cablevision's broadcast basic service and above for an additional $4.95 per month, and customers need to have a Scientific Atlanta digital cable set-top box in order to receive the service. The iO Portuguese package, which includes SPT, is available for an additional $10.95 per month.
