Bright House Networks subscribers in Michigan can now follow the Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox more closely now that the cable operator has launched NESN National.

NESN National is the national TV service of New England Sports Network, which is owned by the Red Sox and Bruins. NESN National is now available to Bright House customers who subscribe to its Sports Pass tier in the Michigan communities of Farmington, Farmington Hills, Livonia, Novi and Redford.

Last month, Bright House Networks launched NESN National in the Tampa Bay and central Florida (Orlando) areas.

"The inclusion of NESN National to Sports Pass, along with a number of other additions made to our sports tier, is yet another example of how Bright House Networks serves sports fans throughout the Detroit area," said Robert McCann, president of the division. "The Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins are two of the best-known franchises in professional sports, and our re-launching of Sports Pass demonstrates our commitment to continually improving our customers' experience. We are thrilled to be offering these sports additions."

Time Warner Cable, which works in tandem with Bright House Networks in several areas, became the first cable operator to launch NESN National in September.

Bright House Networks also recently launched a free remote DVR service that allows its customers to manage their DVR schedules and recordings from their Internet-connected PC or Mac computers or wireless mobile handheld devices.

Bright House Networks' remote DVR works with iPhones, Android and Blackberry devices, as well as other Internet-connected smartphones.

The Remote DVR Manager also features advanced search functions that make finding and selecting programs easier. Customers can search TV listings for shows by title, person, rating, channel or date, or they can browse by categories such as action, comedy, drama, news and sports.

"Bright House Networks is pleased to continue to offer additional interactive services that give our customers more control over their TV viewing," said Kevin Hyman, executive vice president of cable operations at Bright House. "As the busy holiday season approaches, access to remote DVR means our customers won't have to worry about missing any of their favorite television shows. Customers can always access it when they are at work or on the go."
