Montreal-based Vantrix is working with Videotron to help the Canadian cable operator provision its TV Everywhere Web portal and its recently launched mobile TV service.
"When we were looking to deliver Web and mobile TV to our customers, we wanted to deploy a solution that would optimize network capacity while ensuring best-in-class video quality to which our digital cable customers have become accustomed," said Pierre Roy, vice president of research and development at Videotron. "Selecting Vantrix was the natural choice because of their strong leadership in this space and their robust and effective product line. Vantrix has provided Videotron with a platform that will scale with our business and allow us to differentiate against our competition."
Videotron is using Vantrix's Multi-Screen Video Delivery platform for its illico web and illico mobile services. The Vantrix platform manages video content, subscriber profiles and service packages while optimizing video quality.
By using Vantrix's technology, Videotron is able to offer an individualized service lineup for VOD or live TV while providing the same look and feel across multiple screens.

Earlier in the week, Videotron announced that it had added Speed HD and MPix HD to its channel lineup. With the two new additions, Videotron currently has 370 channels, including 51 HD channels, 27 of which are in French.
