Insight Communications is gearing up to launch its first DOCSIS 3.0-enabled tier in its Evansville/Henderson, Ind., and Bowling Green, Ky., markets.
Insight CEO Michael Willner wrote about the new DOCSIS 3.0 deployments, which feature speeds of up to 50 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up, in a blog posting yesterday. Willner also said that Insight plans on more DOCSIS 3.0 rollouts, a multi-room DVR service, more HD and more programming options on its own CNI2 channel in Kentucky.
Insight, the nation's ninth-largest cable operator, plans on launching the DOCSIS 3.0 tier in the two markets before the end of this year. Willner didn't mention the cost of the service.
Willner wrote that Insight subscribers would hear more about the company's DOCSIS 3.0 deployment schedule "in just a few short weeks." Other rollouts will follow "shortly after the first few districts," according to Willner.
Willner didn't say when the multi-room DVR service would be launched, but Insight will add more HD channels next year.
