Broadpeak and Inlet Technologies have integrated the former's Mediator content delivery network (CDN) management system and the latter's Spinnaker live streaming appliances into a unified platform that any service provider can use to deliver their content via the Web for existing subscribers or to new subscribers via an over-the-top application.

Inlet's system performs adaptive bit rate (ABR) encoding to support the delivery of content over IP networks provided by Broadpeak.

The integrated system comes pre-configured to trim deployment time. The Broadpeak system also features advanced monitoring of the encoded content to ensure quality and network performance, the companies said.

Broadpeak is a spin-off from Technicolor (itself part of the company formerly known as Thomson), formed by a team who developed expertise in CDN and video-on-demand servers as they helped deploy such systems with a variety of IPTV, cable and hybrid pay-TV operators worldwide.

The scalable Broadpeak Mediator system enables network service providers to efficiently deliver content to multiple screens, over any type of network, using intelligent popularity management to optimize system storage capacity and system load balancing to ensure high-performance, the company said.

The system's servers feature redundancy and fail-over management, and network topology is easily managed for efficiency using advanced, secure, multilayered PoP technology.

Spinnaker can stream in multiple formats to any device, including iPhone, iPad, feature phones and smartphones.
