Widevine, Accedo team up on OTT video services
Application developer Accedo Broadband has joined forces with Widevine to help deliver over-the-top services and applications.
Widevine's adaptive streaming, virtual DVD controls and digital rights management (DRM) platform will be available for integration with Accedo's application offerings.
Through the partnership, operators will be able to deliver enhanced viewing experiences to their subscribers by using Accedo's applications. The "connected TV" applications are designed for Blu-ray players, as well as TVs.
The two companies announced the partnership this morning at the IBC show in Amsterdam.
"Accedo is one of the global leaders in providing apps for IPTV and connected TV. We are very happy to be able to jointly offer proven solutions to the market," commented Brian Baker, CEO of Widevine. "We are already working together on several great next-generation video services for OTT distribution, and we look forward to bringing the partnership to the next level."
Seattle-based Widevine's investors include Charter Ventures, Cisco Systems, Liberty Global and Samsung Ventures America.
