AT&T has launched the AT&T U-verse Mobile App for the App Store, allowing its U-verse subscribers to download and watch TV content on their iPhones.

According to AT&T, it is the first pay-TV provider to offer "an integrated mobile app that allows you to both manage your DVR and download and watch select shows."

U-verse Mobile replaces the Mobile Remote Access for iPhone app and incorporates the ability to browse the U-verse TV program guide, view program descriptions, and schedule and manage DVR recordings, while adding the ability to download available episodes over any Wi-Fi connection and watch them in full-screen mode on the iPhone.

U-verse TV customers already have remote DVR management capability.

The U-verse Mobile App includes TV shows from several popular networks, and AT&T will continue to add more content on an ongoing basis.

In other company news, AT&T is scheduling job fairs this week in New Haven and Rocky Hill to fill more than 75 positions in Connecticut.

The jobs are intended to staff the telecommunications company's expansion of its U-verse TV and wireless telephone service. From 2007 through 2009, AT&T says capital investment in its Connecticut wireless and wire line networks was nearly $825 million.

Openings include U-verse technicians, door-to-door and retail sales, and sales management.

Unemployment in Connecticut was 8.8 percent in June, the most recent month tallied, according to the state Department of Labor. That was down slightly from 8.9 percent in May and lower than the 9.5 percent nationwide.
