Jay Rolls, Cox Communications' senior vice president of technology, will serve as chairman of the Program Committee for the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers' Cable-Tec Expo 2010.
Rolls will continue the Program Committee's development of content that helps cable system operators reduce costs, optimize network performance and enhance customer satisfaction, the SCTE said. He will also work with vendors regarding advances in cable TV technology.
"SCTE Cable-Tec Expo has always been, and continues to be, the industry's premier forum for engineering thought leadership and the showcasing of new technology," Rolls said. "I'm pleased to be able to play such an active role in this year's event and look forward to working with the Program Committee to host an event that delivers the best-possible results for all members of the cable community."
This year's Expo is set for Oct. 20-22 in New Orleans. The theme is "Playing cable's technology tune," focusing on the ability of cable networks to provide compelling and diverse services to the customer.
Rolls joined Cox in 1995 as director of multimedia technology, and he was then promoted to vice president of data engineering in 2001 and vice president of telephone and data engineering in 2003. Most recently, he served as vice president of technology development. Prior to joining Cox, he served as vice president of network engineering at Excite@Home.
