• DirecTV running to feds to complain about Comcast

DirecTV is set to file a federal complaint charging that Comcast is blocking access to its Philadelphia sports network, according to reports.

Comcast's SportsNet Philadelphia owns broadcast rights to Phillies, Eagles and Flyers games. It has negotiated contracts with rivals RCN and Verizon FiOS but has yet to come to any agreements with DirecTV or Dish Network.

DirecTV is apparently so frustrated with the lack of progress in its negotiations with Comcast and is preparing to file a complaint with the FCC that Comcast is blocking access to the sports channel, according to BusinessWeek.

• ACA names 2 more to board

American Cable Association President and CEO Matthew Polka announced new additions to the ACA board of directors who were ratified for approval at the panel's third-quarter meeting this week in Baltimore.

Felix Boccucci, vice president of regulatory affairs for Knology, and Thomas Larsen, group vice president of legal and public affairs for Mediacom Communications, were appointed to open seats on the ACA board with terms ending in 2011.

Larsen was elected to fill the seat previously occupied by Calvin Craib, Mediacom's senior vice president of corporate finance and business development. Knology joined ACA as a member earlier this year.

• Sencore sets up shop in Denver area

Sencore, a signal processing and video delivery vendor, opened a new office in the Denver area earlier this month.

Sencore, which is headquartered in Sioux Falls, S.D., now has an office in the Denver Tech Center in the Denver suburb of Englewood.

"Denver is a major technology hub for broadcasters, cable, telco and satellite companies, and our new office represents Sencore's expanding presence across these markets," said Sencore CEO John Suranyi. "We are confident that the Denver-based team will help us continue to develop the innovative technology we're known for within the industry. In times that have been tough for many companies, we're grateful to have an opportunity to invest in our own future and the future of the industry."

Members of Sencore's sales and engineering teams are currently working in the Colorado office.
