• Comcast-NBCU deal set back another 2 weeks
By Brian Santo
The FCC has delayed the approval process for Comcast's proposed acquisition of NBC Universal by another two weeks.
The delay, the FCC said, is in accordance with requests from opponents of the deal for more time to evaluate and respond to documents recently filed by Comcast and NBCU.
Those requesting the delay included the American Cable Association and the Fair Access to Content & Telecommunications (FACT) Coalition, an umbrella organization that includes the Organization for the Promotion and Advancement of Small Telecommunications Companies (OPASTCO), the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) and the Rural Independent Competitive Alliance (RICA).
