Verizon Wireless has launched its V Cast Video across its lineup of Android-based smartphones in time for live broadcasts from the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Verizon said it was partnering with Univision Interactive Media to provide live streams of all 64 Spanish-language broadcasts of the soccer matches. The deal allows it to circumvent AT&T’s exclusivity agreement with ESPN Mobile, which allowed AT&T to broadcast all 64 FIFA matches while other operators only had access to 56 of the matches.

V Cast for Android is available for download from the Android Market. Subscriptions cost $10 per month, in addition to a smartphone data plan on the Android-based Motorola Droid, HTC Eris, Motorola Devour, HTC Incredible and LG Ally.

Verizon Wireless’ other customers with mobile television-enabled devices pay either $13 or $15 for the service, depending on whether they choose the limited or basic plan.

Verizon recently added programming from AETN to its mobile television lineup, including A&E, Lifetime and History, and Spanish-language content from V-me. V Cast Video, a white-labeled service from Flo TV, currently features more than 230 full-length programs from more than 40 providers.

Sprint is offering mobile TV for free with its $70 Everything Data plan and will be broadcasting 56 soccer matches from the FIFA World Cup.
