By Brian Santo

SureWest Communications is deploying Accedian Network's Performance Assurance platform to ensure service delivery for its Ethernet-based mobile backhaul.

SureWest conducted an evaluation of performance monitoring solutions and said it selected the Accedian MetroNID in part because it could be used across SureWest's entire carrier Ethernet service portfolio.

SureWest's Wireless Carrier Backhaul is an Ethernet-based service that provides the capacity and performance needed for wireless operators to effectively deliver mobile broadband services.

Miranda teams up with Quest
By Brian Santo

Miranda Technologies has partnered with Quest Research & Development to offer on-air graphics systems, which enable broadcasters to display comments from their viewers sent via Twitter and other social networking sites.

"Our first system has been installed at a major New York City station, which is using the technology to display viewers' tweets on-air during a live daytime news show. We believe it's the first system of its kind in the country, with viewer comments fully integrated with the station's channel branding," says Clinton Ash, president of Quest.

"The system is based on Miranda's Vertigo XG graphics processor and Quest's QLive server, which is used for receiving and censoring the social networking messages. Approved comments are entered into a queue, ready to be keyed on-air in a 'speech bubble' graphic."
