Knology has tabbed Metaswitch Networks to help enable its VoIP applications and switching infrastructure.
Specifically, Knology is migrating its entire base of legacy voice switches and existing application servers to a complete Metaswitch platform of universal media gateways, application/feature servers and advanced network management.
“Having started as a telephone company in 1896, we have a proud and storied history of providing high-value and innovative services to our customers,” said Tony Palermo, vice president of marketing at Knology. “Metaswitch has an excellent track record of leadership in the industry, with experience in both migrating networks to IP and delivering a steady stream of new applications to keep subscribers happy.”
Metaswitch’s experience in delivering SIP trunking and IP Centrex solutions, comprehensive business group features, wireless service integration and advanced residential features were factors in Knology’s decision to implement the vendor’s gear.
Knology serves customers in 12 markets across six states.
