Verizon is trying to woo customers in Bright House Networks’ Tampa Bay system with new month-to-month pricing tiers, as well as other incentives.
As of yesterday, Verizon FiOS subscribers can opt to pay for a bundle on a month-to-month basis at the same prices that the telco chargers customers with long-term contracts. Verizon is also offering “price certainty” for one year and no early termination fees.
On May 2, Verizon started offering a 30-day, “risk-free” guarantee period from the date of activation for new two-year contract subscribers, with no early termination fees during the length of the contract.
Verizon’s “Peace of Mind Pledge,” which was previously known as the Verizon Service Commitment, adds month-to-month pricing to the company's service-commitment practices.
"We have listened to the market and are responding with this month-to-month pricing plan for new customers," said Michelle Robinson, Verizon's Southeast Region president. "When coupled with the Verizon Peace of Mind Pledge, consumers have even more control of their Verizon FiOS experience. We are delivering a better product and a vastly improved customer service experience – and giving customers the option to change their mind without being charged a fee."
New Florida-based customers can get the base FiOS bundle month to month, with no term contract or early termination fee, for $99.99 per month before taxes, fees and customer-selected service additions, such as multiple set-top boxes and premium channel choices.
Customers also get the Movie Package free for six months, which Verizon said matched the current Movie Package offer for new term-contract customers.
The month-to-month option, which comes with pricing certainty for one year, also applies to other bundle offerings.
Bright House Networks, the nation’s sixth-largest cable operator, was among the first MSOs to do battle with Verizon once the telco started rolling out its FiOS video and data services in the Tampa Bay area.
