At The Cable Show this week in Los Angeles, Miranda Technologies is highlighting its loudness control solution – Automatic Loudness Control – which provides real-time measurement and loudness adjustment on the fly and can prevent excessive channel-to-channel and segment-to-segment loudness, such as during commercial breaks.
Automatic Loudness Control is space-efficient, with loudness measurement and correction for up to 20 television channels in a 3RU frame. The product is an option for Miranda's signal processor modules and can be used in a “set-and-forget” mode, or with “segment-aware” operation with the processing controlled by automation.
With segment-aware operation, the loudness processing profile can be adjusted by a “segment change” cue from playout automation. For known segments with the correct loudness level, the loudness processing can be bypassed, and it can be engaged for commercials, live segments and non-validated content to ensure a consistent audio level.
Miranda offers a choice of three Automatic Loudness Control solutions, based on Linear Acoustic Aeromax processing, Jünger Audio Level Magic processing and Miranda’s own proprietary wideband audio processing.
