Maxxian announced a new tool suite for analyzing broadband system data. CounterStryx Audit can be used for cable modems and the optional support of CMTS-based return path information for DOCSIS-enabled set-tops.
CounterStryx Audit for cable modems is designed to identify units operating on cable operators’ networks that are either disabled or are unknown to the operators’ billing systems.
The Audit applies many of the same techniques used for Maxxian’s set-top audits, using data from billing, provisioning and network components, with temporal analysis to eliminate false positives that are due to transient problems.
The DOCSIS return path analysis option is now available for CounterStryx Operations Center to include CMTS network data in Maxxian’s set-top response and security analysis.
“Our customers count on our comprehensive checks of all available network data, including VOD and other traffic. As they start the transition to DOCSIS-based set-top communication, it’s critical that we include their CMTS data,” said R.J. Juneau, CTO of Maxxian.
