ActiveVideo Networks and SMiT have integrated the former’s CloudTV platform with the latter’s CI Plus conditional access modules.
The combination is designed to provide enhanced interactive television, with or without a set-top box. Without a set-top, the subscriber would need Ethernet or Wi-Fi connectivity in the host TV as a return channel.
ActiveVideo is demonstrating at the Anga show how the solution also supports the iPhone Remote Control App that is also being shown at the booth.
“The deployment of CI Plus is gaining traction in Europe as it provides ease of use for consumers and lower cost for cable operators,” said Ronald Brockmann, managing director of Europe for ActiveVideo Networks. “The ActiveVideo solution enables these operators to generate additional revenue and greater loyalty from CI Plus subscribers by offering a rich interactive environment.”
“SMiT is supplying CI Plus modules to many operators in Europe, including Kabel Deutschland and Ziggo,” said Stephen He, vice president of SMiT. “Our relationship with ActiveVideo is enabling us to bring the video-on-demand services and interactivity that operators can monetize to CI Plus subscribers.”
