Former Cox Communications chief technology officer Chris Bowick, who retired from Cox last year, has joined ViXS Systems' board of directors, the company announced today.
“ViXS continues to build a strong board of directors with industry leaders who possess deep experience and expertise,” said ViXS President and CEO Sally Daub. “Chris’ technological, strategic and operational expertise, as well as his experience in the deployment of technology in the digital video, HDTV and interactive television market, will be an asset to our company.”
Bowick hasn’t exactly been idling on a sunny beach since his retirement in June. He is president of The Bowick Group, which provides strategic advice to clients in the cable television and telecommunications industry.
Last month, Bowick joined Inlet Technologies’ board, and in January he was named to Concurrent’s advisory board. In October, Bowick joined LiquidxStream Systems’ board of directors.
From 2000 to 2009, Bowick served as Cox Communications’ senior vice president of engineering and CTO. Prior to Cox, he served as group vice president of technology and CTO for Jones Intercable, as well as president of Jones Futurex.
Bowick has also worked as vice president of engineering for Scientific Atlanta’s transmission systems business division.
