Verizon FiOS customers will be able to surf YouTube videos from the comfort of their couches and view the clips on their TVs, thanks to a deal between Verizon and Google-owned YouTube.
Verizon also announced today that it was introducing Internet Radio for its FiOS TV subscribers, which will provide access to hundreds of stations nationwide, along with the ability to stream music from a PC to the TV.
Both the YouTube clips and Internet Radio are part of Verizon’s Media Manager, which allows subscribers to search and view user-generated content on their TVs from online video sharing sites blip.tv, DailyMotion and Veoh.
To further sweeten the viewing pot, Verizon’s Media Manager is now available to all of its HD subscribers after previously being available only to DVR customers.
"Adding YouTube and Internet Radio to FiOS TV further expands our customers' digital home entertainment world by giving them access to an unprecedented amount of online content on the biggest screen in their home – their TV," said Shawn Strickland, vice president of consumer strategy for Verizon.
Financial terms of the agreement between Verizon and YouTube weren’t available.
