TiVo has released its Wireless N Network Adapter for its dual-tuner boxes, enabling TiVo users to download and transfer content within their homes.
The adapter is available for $89.99 on TiVo.com. Best Buy will start selling it later this week.
The wireless adapter connects TiVo DVRs to home networks. With TiVoToGo, the adapter lets users transfer recordings to a laptop, iPhone or other portable device.
The adapter connects to a home’s Wi-Fi N router. If a home has a Wi-Fi b/g router instead, a connection can still be established by buying a second TiVo Wireless N adapter and plugging it into the old router, the company said.
TiVo Desktop or TiVo Desktop Plus software is required for music, photos and TiVoToGo transfers.
TiVo vice president and general manager of product marketing Jim Denney said, “We've offered a Wireless G Adapter for many years, but just as Premiere was our first step in the next evolution of the DVR, we wanted to upgrade our total offering with the addition of a new Wireless N Adapter focused on speed and performance.”
