There’s a 3-D golf tournament out there, and Time Warner Cable is the latest MSO to go out and get itself some o’ that.

The Masters Golf Tournament is selling the rights to 3-D coverage to cable operators only. Cablevision, Comcast and Cox Communications have already signed on (and Verizon has already complained about being left out).

TWC will provide two hours of highlights from the tournament each day. Highlights will be available for viewing on-demand until April 30.

Customers must have specific 3-D TVs from either Samsung or Panasonic, a Time Warner Cable HD box with HDMI output, and the two have to be connected by an HDMI cable.

Time Warner Cable said it will also be hosting private viewing parties of The Masters in 3-D in three markets: Charlotte, N.C., San Diego and New York City.

“We remain committed to bringing our customers not just the latest programming, but the most innovative ways to watch it. The Masters coverage and these viewing parties will provide a good test for the future rollout of 3-D TV in our footprint,” said Melinda Witmer, executive vice president of programming for Time Warner Cable.
