Verizon said it has topped the 3 million subscriber mark with its FiOS service, but subscriber additions will slow down the rest of the year when compared with the previous quarter a year ago.

Verizon reported its first quarter-2010 results yesterday.

In an article on Fastnews.com, Dave Burstein wrote that Verizon will cut is 2010 FiOS rollout by 2 million homes for budgetary reasons.

Verizon added 168,000 FiOS TV customers in the recently completed first quarter, compared with the 299,000 it added in the same quarter a year ago.

On the data side, Verizon counted 185,000 new FiOS subscribers, compared with 298,000 in the first quarter of 2009.
