Cox Communications recently added Epix and Vutopia in northern Virginia, which includes Roanoke and Hampton Roads.

The new channels are available at no additional cost to customers that subscribe to Cox’s Movie Pak tier.

Epix is a new movie channel that offers Hollywood titles, classic feature films, original series and comedy specials. Vutopia is a new VOD move service offering hundreds of movies on-demand, including Hollywood movies and documentaries. Cox said most of the content from Epix and Vutopia would be available in HD.

Cox said it would offer online content from both Vutopia and Epix starting in June.

Epix is also available as a standalone purchase with the Advanced TV tier for $11.99 per month. Advanced TV customers can also purchase Vutopia as a standalone product for $9.99 per month.

Cox also announced it had two new HD channels, Hallmark HD and Disney HD, in the Hampton Roads and Roanoke areas. Across its northern Virginia footprint, Cox has recently launched NBA TV HD, ESPN U HD and ESPN News HD.

Cox, the nation’s third-largest cable operator, competes against Verizon in northern Virginia.
