The Comcast Media Center announced today that it is preparing to expand the reach of its content solutions into Latin America to help bring video content from there into North America.
The Latin American video content will be available for distribution by the cable and satellite markets in the U.S.
The CMC said it plans to support the Latin American video content market in tandem with its participation at Expo Canitec 2010, which is being held next week in Monterrey, Mexico.
“Our support for Latin American video companies is a natural extension of the work we are already doing for a number of leading Spanish-language television networks and on-demand programming providers in the U.S.,” said Gary Traver, senior vice president and chief operating officer of the Comcast Media Center. “The CMC’s video content solutions are well-suited to support the Latin American market in expanding their video content distribution through new viewing platforms.”
Comcast Media Center’s capabilities include a 35,000-square-foot Earth station with 36 dedicated uplink antennas (C-band and Ku-band), distribution in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, visibility into the Atlantic and Pacific operating regions (AOR and POR), and access to satellites reaching most continents.
